In this Faculty, we don’t just study the law reports. We equip you with the critical acumen required for the administration of justice. From LL.B to LL.D, continued legal training to post-graduate studies in financial planning – in our Faculty you will find all the equipment necessary to lead you to success in the highly specialised legal world. If you have the vision, we have the programs to ensure you a bright future.
This Faculty offers a range of law degrees and a variety of centres and units through which you can acquire the competence to become a professional legal practitioner.
A successful student at this Faculty will be able:
- to be a life-long learner by being able to remain up to date with the latest developments in the legal field
- to take his/her place in the local, national and international communities as a responsible citizen
- as a legal practitioner, to be sensitive to the cultural and aesthetic diversity in the community
- to explore educational and career possibilities and to develop entrepreneurial skills.
A successful law student will specifically be able:
- to identify legal problems by critical and creative thought
- to approach and to manage personal and professional activities in a responsible, ethical and effective manner
- to undertake effective legal research by the collecting, analysing and critical evaluation of information
- to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- to work effectively with others in the community
- to use technology effectively and responsibly to the advantage of the community as a whole
- to see the law as a component of a system of inter-dependant sub-systems in the community within which problem solving cannot take place in isolation.
With a law degree you can choose the career of your dreams. Studying for an LL.B degree does not of necessity imply that you have to become an attorney or an advocate. With specialised knowledge, legal graduates can have successful careers in a wide variety of professions – as legal practitioners, legal advisers, labour consultants, human resources managers, public prosecutors, magistrates, in the insurance and banking industries, in the diplomatic service and as academics.
The Faculty strives, through excellent teaching and training, to provide highly competent candidates who are equipped with internationally recognised degrees, to the professions, and the community at large.
