The Research Committee of the Faculty on 4 February 2009 dealt with four applications for a research chair. The following allocations were done with the funds available:
o Prof. AWG Raath … He undertook to deliver four accredited outputs by the end of 2010.
o Adv. BS Smith for “The regulation of marriage and analogous relationships in South Africa: A historical and comparative analysis”. He undertook to deliver four accredited outputs by the end of 2010.
o Adv. JH de Bruin … He must deliver two accredited outputs by the end of 2010.
o Prof. R-M Jansen for research on medication and more specifically the "off-label" use thereof.
She undertook to deliver one accredited output by the end of 2010.
The Research Committee of the Faculty on 18 November 2008 received fund-applications for the following projects:
